Who we are
We believe that art does not exist only in museums, galleries, or exhibition spaces.
It exists in the streets we walk through every day. In our neighbourhoods. In the small details we often overlook. In our personal journeys, our memories, our encounters, and the silences of the city.
Art in a Box was born from the need to rediscover the world at a moment when everything around us had come to a standstill. Since then, it has continued to explore the ways in which artistic creation can transform everyday life into experience, observation into narrative, and public space into a place of dialogue.
We approach Psychogeography not only as a research method, but also as a way of experiencing life. We walk, observe, collect images, words, objects, and memories. We create new narratives in places where others may see only ordinary, familiar routes.
We believe that every person can become a creator. That every city holds countless stories. That every place carries an invisible cultural memory, revealed when we dedicate time, imagination, and attention to truly seeing it.
Art is not a luxury. It is a way of understanding the world.
The city is not merely the setting of our lives. It is our interlocutor.
Creation is not the privilege of a few. It is a possibility open to everyone.
Art in a Box is an open community of people who choose to see differently, create collectively, and share their own visual psychogeographical journeys.
Because beneath the surface of every city lies an unseen world.
And art is one of the most beautiful ways to discover it.
“Art is not a luxury. It is a way of understanding the world.”

ABOUT US
The project is based on the idea of maintaining a daily connection with art in all its forms.
The group was founded in April 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown, by visual artist Elisavet Dionysopoulou.
The project is based on the idea of maintaining a daily connection with art in all its forms.
Through a series of daily verbal “exercises,” the artist encourages members to broaden their visual awareness and, by shifting their perspective, to experience their everyday surroundings through an artistic lens.
Using the mobile phone we all carry with us, participants are invited to observe and record aspects of their everyday lives that may respond to the theme of each exercise, reinterpreting them within a conceptual and artistic framework.
To date, the group has presented three artistic projects in galleries, participated in an exhibition at the Library of the Hellenic Parliament, and taken part in an artistic event held as part of the 2024 Marathon parallel events, with works displayed in shop windows in Nea Makri.
Working across Painting, Printmaking, Photography and Sculpting, the group functions as a living, evolving organism, bringing together members from a wide range of artistic and non-artistic backgrounds. It remains deeply engaged with contemporary Greek reality, approaching it through the lens of art and responding creatively whenever the opportunity arises.
Art in a Box is an open group with a public presence on social media, allowing anyone to engage with the visual responses created by its members and, potentially, to participate by contributing their own interpretations to the exercises.
Events
The objective of the project is to map artistic action as it is produced in the context of collective initiatives by artists who decide to join forces in seeking answers to artistic questions by creating the so-called platforms.
