About us

The central theme of the group is our relationship with the city.

The urban landscape is our home. It embodies our inner projections, the stories we have lived, our present, and our vision of the future. It also reflects our relationship with the city itself—which is why we want it to be beautiful, accessible, ever-changing, and alive in every sense. The period of the pandemic gave us the opportunity to rediscover it from the beginning.

Time began to be measured differently from March 2020 onward.

In April 2020, during lockdown, I turned to online communication and gave the project the symbolic name Art in a Box – Ars in Arca. Art in a box. A “box” that can signify so many things. The purpose of the group was, and remains, to explore the ability of art to transcend every boundary and to find creative ways of responding to the challenges and needs of human life. After all, art always finds a way.

Influenced by the philosophies of Surrealism, Conceptual Art, the Bauhaus, Neo-Dada, and the psychogeography of the Situationists and Guy Debord, I created a visual “treasure hunt”—an artistic game that was ultimately destined to become something lasting.

The group began with approximately 50 participants, and our first exhibition was titled The Profile of Confinement. Held at the Eos Art Gallery in August 2020, the exhibition was created through the lens of Arte Povera, or the “Art of Recycling,” with each participant asked to use everyday materials found at home and give them a new artistic potential.

I would also like to emphasize the very important opportunity the internet gave us: our shared virtual space dissolved geographical—and other—distances, allowing us to connect and create together regardless of where we were.
